Johnny B Green MD FACS FASCRS

Dr Johnny B GreenDr. Green treasures every opportunity to serve his patients.  His compassion and integrity manifest in the dignity and patience he brings to the exam room and the operating room.  Though he specializes in surgery, Dr. Green explores all options to find the treatment that will produce the best results for the patient even if that does not include surgery.  Dr. Green is an advocate for cost-effective and simplified healthcare, patient rights, and proper application of technology to improve treatment and reduce administrative costs.

In medical school Dr. Green originally considered being a primary care physician; then he decided he wanted to be the one fixing a patient’s problems rather than referring them to someone else.  So he chose general surgery.  Nevertheless, he brings to surgery the same level of personal care that characterizes primary care.  After five years as general surgeon Dr. Green completed fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery at Oschsner Clinic in New Orleans in 1991.  Dr Green spent twenty-three years in the Navy, retiring in 1999 with the rank of Captain.  After retiring from the Navy Dr. Green served in Kitsap County, Washington as the first and only colon and rectal surgeon in the area, until moving to Boise in 2011.

Since 2000 Dr. Green has been active in Children of the Nations, an international missions organization serving orphans and destitute children in Africa and the Caribbean.  He has made six trips to the Dominican Republic to provide pro-bono medical care to destitute children in the sugar cane villages, and has been influential in helping COTN send their first high school graduate to medical school.

In August 2011 Dr Green began his term as the President of the Northwest Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
